Big Al Mayo is the creator of Big Al’s Reel Reviews, a Connecticut-based food review and community highlight platform built on honesty, independence, and real-world experience. The foundation of the brand is simple: show up, pay your own way, and tell the truth. Big Al does not charge appearance fees, does not accept payment to visit businesses, and does not offer paid or guaranteed coverage. Every visit is approached as a regular customer, so the experience shared is authentic, unbiased, and real.


The primary focus of Big Al’s Reel Reviews is food and as Big Al always says, it better be good. Reviews focus on the full experience, not just the plate: food quality, service, atmosphere, value, and consistency. In addition to food reviews, Big Al creates highlight content that captures the culture, character, and everyday moments that make Connecticut communities special. The platform is built on trust, not trends, and favors real storytelling over scripted promotion.


Big Al is a career Fire Lieutenant in the City of New London, a role that reflects the same values behind the platform which consists of accountability, consistency, and service. Businesses are not promised praise, only fairness. If you’re confident in what you offer and willing to be reviewed honestly, an invitation is all that’s needed. Big Al will visit when scheduling allows, pay his own bill, and share the experience exactly as it happened.
